FILM UA Distribution has presented the official trailer for the satirical thriller "The Death of Putin." Ukrainian viewers will be able to watch the new film from Polish director Patrick Vega in cinemas from January 16.
The film uses deepfake technology to give the main characters a visual authenticity. The director claims he has insider information from a psychiatrist who once worked with the Russian dictator. Therefore, Putin in the film appears not only as a tyrant, but also as a weak, frightened person.
“Working on this film was a real challenge. The lack of access to real materials about Putin’s life forced us to look for innovative approaches. We involved experts in military affairs, quantum mechanics, and architecture. In particular, I consulted with a NATO general who commanded troops in Iraq and Afghanistan,” says the director.
The film tells about the main stages of the dictator's life: from childhood and coming to power to the presidency and the war in Ukraine. As the film's producers assure, this story goes beyond one person. It tells how an authoritarian regime in Russia was created and how it is maintained. The role of the Russian dictator was played by Slavomir Sobala, who is also called "Putin's double."

“I hope this film will give Ukrainian viewers hope and faith that they will soon defeat Russia,” the Polish director concluded.
