Quantum Systems is developing three versions of the Sparta drone for the Ukrainian military

The German-Ukrainian company Quantum Systems is creating the Sparta carrier drone in three versions that will be able to perform reconnaissance and carry other payloads, including FPV drones.
According to Military, the project is currently at TRL 5, meaning the technology has already been tested in conditions close to combat. The company is working on three versions of Sparta: ASR, Light, and Heavy, which differ in capabilities and purpose.
The ASR version is planned to be the first to be delivered to the military. It is focused on reconnaissance and is equipped with sensors for data collection. The launch of combat operations is expected in the summer, after which contracts may be concluded.
A Light version is expected to follow. It will be able to carry additional payloads, including FPV drones, interceptors, or other modules. According to the developers, its launch will take place one to two months after the reconnaissance modification.
The third version of Heavy is in the next stage of development. Its release is expected at the end of the year or next year.
The platform is capable of staying in the air for up to eight hours and carrying a payload of approximately 9 kg. The design includes under-wing mounts, which allow other drones to be launched directly from the carrier and increase their range.
Thus, Sparta combines the functions of a reconnaissance drone and a carrier. This approach is in line with the current development of unmanned systems, where a single platform performs multiple tasks and increases the efficiency of resource use on the battlefield.
Quantum Systems already supplied Vector reconnaissance UAVs to Ukraine in 2024. The development of Sparta shows that the company is moving forward and creating more complex solutions that can not only collect data, but also act as a base for other unmanned systems.
Ukrainian drones will be produced on an industrial scale in Europe for the first time at a joint venture between Quantum Systems and Frontline Robotics
