A representative of the manufacturing company Storkway spoke about the details of the development in a comment to the publication «Oboronka».
The development of the system began in 2014 after the annexation of Crimea by Russia, and the name was chosen in honor of the highest mountain on the peninsula. Since 2024, tactical-level complexes have been supplied to the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Currently, about 400 such electronic warfare systems are operating along the contact line, including in units of the 12th Special Operations Center.
The complex is manufactured in stationary and mobile versions. The mobile version is mounted on a pickup truck and deployed by a crew of two in 10 minutes. The design includes a rotating platform with jammers, detection antennas and a radar for scanning the radio frequencies of approaching drones.
«Ai-Petri» operates in the frequency range from 300 to 6000 MHz and performs a 360-degree circular scan of space. Depending on the terrain, the system is able to detect targets at a distance of 20–30 km. In monitoring mode, the complex consumes 250 W, and during threat suppression — up to 2000 W.
The complex has its own software developed based on the Lyra situational awareness system. It allows combining data from external radars, in particular Robin and Saab Giraffe, creating a single radar field for coordinating actions.
In addition to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry and the Armed Forces brigades, the main buyers of the system are the defense ministries of partner countries, and the volume of orders is measured in tens of millions of euros. The tool is also planned to be integrated into ground robotic platforms and used to protect critical infrastructure facilities, ports and railways. The complex has previously been officially codified by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and is involved in cooperation with the Brave1 defense cluster.
The development of the Ai-Petri SV complex was implemented with private funds — investments in development exceeded 150 million UAH, and the creation of the system lasted less than 5 months instead of the standard several years. The first copies were sent to protect artillerymen in the Avdiivka direction, as well as to units of the 18th Center for Countering Technical Intelligence. In addition to the electronic warfare station and radar, the complex includes a staff car, pickup trucks, communications equipment, power supply and an additional optical device for observation or laser guidance.
Recall that the Verkhovna Rada supported two bills that are intended to reduce the cost of some defense procurement. In particular, components for the production of drones, electronic warfare equipment, ammunition, and other weapons will be exempt from VAT and import duties, regardless of where the money for the purchase comes from.
