The American company ReconCraft will begin production of Ukrainian Magura unmanned boats at its facilities in Oregon and South Carolina. The company plans to produce hundreds to thousands of such systems per year for the needs of the US defense sector.
This was reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing an agreement between the companies.
The drone’s developer, Ukrainian company UFORCE, signed a memorandum of cooperation with ReconCraft at the Embassy of Ukraine in Washington. The agreement provides for the joint use of materials, equipment, and the involvement of specialists from both sides. This is the first case of localization of Ukrainian maritime drone production in the United States.
The deal is part of a larger military technology sharing initiative. The Pentagon, State Department, and Ukrainian officials are currently working on framework agreements for the joint development and production of air defense systems and unmanned aerial vehicles.
US interest in Ukrainian developments has increased due to the depletion of high-precision weapons stocks amid active hostilities and operations against Iran. The US Department of Defense is reviewing its strategy in favor of autonomous and cheaper disposable systems, allocating tens of billions of dollars in this direction. Recently, the US military has already tested kamikaze naval drones during a real operation in the Strait of Hormuz, hitting a submarine and a shipyard.
Magura drones have previously proven their effectiveness in the Black Sea. Thanks to these drones, the Ukrainian Defense Forces were able to force a significant part of the Russian Black Sea Fleet to retreat from bases in Crimea, as well as strike oil tankers, bridges and air targets using integrated missile weapons.
Recall that in March 2026, the UFORCE development company raised $50 million in investment in a round led by Shield Capital and Lakestar, which brought its valuation to over $1 billion, and the company itself acquired the status of a defense tech unicorn.
The GUR announced the «Magura era» and for the first time publicly presented new versions of Magura naval drones, which can operate in a swarm and shoot down Russian aircraft
