The Cabinet of Ministers has launched a pilot project to improve the identification and registration of pets. As part of this initiative, a Unified State Register of Pets is being launched, which has already been developed and transferred to the Ministry of Economy.
A single state register of pets will simplify obtaining veterinary documents, help find lost pets faster, and improve control over the spread of diseases. In addition, the system will allow for centralized accounting of stray animals.
All veterinary services, including vaccination and microchipping, will be provided at standard clinic rates. However, microchipping is not mandatory for registering an animal.
In the first phase, dogs, cats, and ferrets will be involved in the project. Owners will be able to register their pets for free at both public and private veterinary clinics that join the initiative.
"The register has already been created and transferred to the balance of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine. During the pilot stage, more than 6,000 domestic animals were entered into the system," the ministry reported .
The next step will begin in the near future - testing the system in state veterinary clinics, and over time, private institutions will also begin to join the initiative.
In the future, the creation of the register will become the basis for the implementation of a digital veterinary passport. After the successful implementation of the pilot project, the Ministry of Economy, together with the Ministry of Digital Affairs, will work on its integration into the "Diya" application.
The Ukrainian app for pet owners, Bubibo, has launched a pet assistant — it will simplify daily care, taking into account the individual needs of your pet.
