Ukrainian Defense Forces Test German Tytan Shahed Interceptor Drone. What Are Its Capabilities?

The Brave1 military technology development cluster reported that Ukrainian operators flew a drone from a German manufacturer to personally test its capabilities. This UAV is designed to intercept Russian-Iranian Shahed drones and enemy reconnaissance drones and can be controlled from the Steam Deck.
Brave1 said the drone can reach speeds of 300 km/h and cover a distance of 20 kilometers. The manufacturer also plans to add automatic guidance systems based on machine vision to future models.
«The interceptor tests were attended by representatives of the Security and Defense Forces, who highly appreciated the drone’s capabilities. «We are also working on matching the manufacturer with Ukrainian developers of related solutions. We are convinced that this partnership will be beneficial for both the German side and domestic innovators», — Brave1 reported.
The cluster did not disclose the name of the drone or its manufacturer, but Defense Express reports that it is the Tytan interceptor drone from German startup Tytan Technology. It is also currently undergoing tests in Germany, conducted under the auspices of the Bundeswehr Cyber Innovation Hub.
It is reported that the development of this drone has been ongoing for a year and is directly dictated by the experience of Russia’s war against Ukraine, which indicates the need to have cheap means of destruction.
Therefore, 3D printing is actively used in the production of Tytan, in particular to create the UAV body. The manufacturer also positions the container launch for the possibility of equipping armored vehicles with such an anti-aircraft weapon.

The published specifications of the drone are slightly different from those indicated in Brave1:
Speed over 250 km/h.
Range over 15 km.
Take-off weight 5 kg.
Payload — up to 1 kg.
Tests in Germany showed that Tytan is controlled from a portable console from Steam Deck. Defense Express reminds that the console is actively used by Ukrainian developers in many drones and robotic platforms, and believes that its support from Tytan Technology is a positive signal.
«A year or two ago, the Bundeswehr would hardly have even let any developer who would use a ready-made commercial solution to control weapons, especially from the gaming industry, into its doors. Because the main requirement would have been an exclusively military solution, which would have required the development of its own, but similar, software and hardware solution in the „according to each other“ style and a green shock-resistant case,» the publication notes.
