In addition to Ukraine, the advertising is being launched in markets across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, including Nigeria, South Africa, Serbia, Cambodia, Bangladesh and Pakistan. The geography has also been expanded to 14 countries in Latin America, including Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru (after previous launches in Mexico and Brazil), Reuters reports .
In August, the company reported that the annualized revenue run rate of its advertising business had reached $1 billion. Since ChatGPT began testing advertising in the US earlier this year, more than 100,000 advertisers have already run their campaigns on the platform.
Ads will only appear for users of ChatGPT Free and Go plans. Paid subscriptions — Plus, Pro, and Enterprise — will remain completely ad-free.
Advertisers in new markets will be able to buy and customize ads through OpenAI’s technology partners or independently using the Ads Manager platform.
