Gaming platform Roblox has announced a major update to its developer tools. The company plans to allow content creators to distribute their projects as standalone apps on mobile, PC, and consoles.
This was announced at the annual developer conference on Friday, Reuters writes .
Roblox will provide its own underlying technology and services to run games as standalone applications. Additionally, by the end of the year, players will be able to join games directly in the Chrome browser from the game details page without having to download the app, with support for other browsers coming later.
Developers will be able to combine online and offline modes in their projects. This will allow them to create story-driven single-player campaigns and play without a network connection.
The company is also actively integrating artificial intelligence. In particular, the capabilities of the Build tool, Scene Generator, and functions for non-player characters (NPCs) are being expanded.
The company says that Build, which launched in July, lets you create, test, and publish full-fledged games using text prompts right in the app. Users have already published nearly 9,000 games using Build, with 71% of creators having never worked with Roblox Studio before.
The Scene Generator tool, scheduled for release later this year, will allow you to generate a working game layout based on a text query and a reference image. Roblox also plans to introduce artificial intelligence for NPCs who will be able to test games on their own.
Це може спростити шлях для розробників, які хочуть перетворити успішний Roblox-проєкт на повноцінну гру з Space Waves власною аудиторією.
