Rockstar Games has issued an official statement regarding the leak of gameplay footage for the upcoming game Grand Theft Auto VI. The developers admitted that the incident was a heavy blow to the team, but work on the project continues.
Rockstar Games noted that the premature appearance of the working materials on the network was disappointing for the team, as it sought to present the game in a completely different format after years of waiting. At the same time, Rockstar Games thanked players for their numerous words of support and assured that it aims to exceed the audience’s expectations regarding the quality of the final product.
«The leak of the Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay video was a real blow to our team, and it’s not at all how we wanted you to see the game after a long wait,» Rockstar Games stressed.
The developers indicated that preparing for the extended GTA VI gameplay reveal took longer than they wanted, but they still hope that it can exceed players' expectations.
«While it’s unfortunate that the planned gameplay experience may now be affected by some spoilers, we hope everyone will wait a little longer to evaluate the game for themselves on November 19th,» the studio said in a statement.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, exclusively for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Developers from Rockstar Games have not yet announced a release date for the PC version, but it will likely arrive a year after the console release.
