OpenAI has announced the launch of new ChatGPT Spaces, a dedicated space for humans and AI to collaborate in. The solution marks the AI’s transition from simple dialogic responses to more autonomous task execution alongside user teams.
In Spaces, several colleagues can work on projects simultaneously, involving both ChatGPT itself and other OpenAI tools — including the coding assistant Codex and the new always-on service Dots , TechRadar reports .
For Pro, Business, and Enterprise users (on desktop, mobile, and web), ChatGPT Spaces completely replaces the former Library tab.
OpenAI defines Spaces as “a single home for the pages and files you create, upload, and share in ChatGPT, including spreadsheets and presentations.”
The main innovations of the platform:
Pages: A new document format that combines text, images, charts, and interactive elements. With direct integration with services like Slack, email, and calendars, the data in these documents updates in real time without the need for constant manual editing via prompts.
Personal AI assistants: each participant in the space has their own ChatGPT (and Dot) assistant, who can be tasked with making changes or updating data in a shared document.
Meeting Plugin (in beta): Currently available to Pro and Business subscribers on desktop, it creates private, personalized notes during meetings and offers a list of follow-ups right in the shared space.
The company notes that Spaces is not intended to completely replace Google Workspace or Microsoft 365. However, this release significantly changes the approach to working with documents, combining people, tools, and artificial intelligence in a single working environment.
