The drone manufacturing plant in Kyiv, destroyed by a Russian ballistic missile on Friday, belonged to the American company Terminal Autonomy, registered in Delaware.
This is reported by the British publication The Guardian, citing its sources.
Terminal Autonomy produces high-precision deep-strike drones with guidance systems resistant to Russian jamming signals.
The very name of the company, Terminal Autonomy, as The Guardian adds, refers to the final phase of a kamikaze drone attack, during which artificial intelligence takes over control of the drone when the enemy jams communications.
Terminal Autonomy did not respond to an emailed request for comment. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense also did not respond to an email sent to the publication.
The Russian news agency TASS was the first to report the attack on the plant on Sunday, citing the Russian Defense Ministry as the source. The report did not say that the plant was owned by a U.S. company, but did mention that «specialists from a Ukrainian-American company» were working there. At the same time, TASS said that the plant produced the AQ-400 Scythe and AQ-100 Bayonet drones.
As dev.ua wrote, at the end of 2023, Terminal Autonomy, formerly known as One Way Aerospace, announced the successful completion of procurement for the production of long-range AQ 400 Scythe unmanned systems.
