The Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with the military command, has uncovered a scheme to embezzle over UAH 12 million in budget funds for the purchase of drones. The organizer of the transaction was the former commander of one of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry brigades in the Kyiv region, who held this position at the time of the crime.

According to the investigation , the official organized a fictitious purchase of 580 FPV drones, which were to be sent to the Ukrainian military in the Kharkiv direction. He involved three other people in the illegal activity.
Despite the fact that none of the contracted drones ever reached the front line, the attackers issued forged property transfer and acceptance certificates. To hide the absence of equipment during inspections, the former commander demanded that his subordinates write off the drones as “lost during hostilities.”
SBU officers detained the former brigade commander directly at his place of duty along with three accomplices. By order of the Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the officer has already been dismissed from his position.
SBU investigators informed the detainees of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine).
A pre-trial investigation is currently underway under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General's Office to bring all those involved to justice.
