The occupiers showed a "fan" system for protecting against FPV drones
Russian army engineers have created a drone defense system that aims to shoot down drones using small cables that rotate rapidly on the surface of vehicles. The Russians patented this system back in 2015.
Russian army engineers have created a drone defense system that aims to shoot down drones using small cables that rotate rapidly on the surface of vehicles. The Russians patented this system back in 2015.
Russian propagandists have shown an experimental NRC testing a new anti-drone system. Its principle is based on spinning discs to which cables are attached, which are supposed to prevent FPV drones from hitting the hull.
Defense Express reports that a similar system, but with blades instead of cables, was patented by the Russians in May 2015 to protect the «loaves». However, cables have more advantages over blades, in particular, they do not break when in contact with the ground. The Russians also patented a similar protection with cables to protect tanks from above from drones.
According to experts, it is currently unclear how this system will perform in real combat conditions, when the vehicle will not move on an even surface and will collide with bushes and trees.
