Samsung’s first foldable smartphone is set to debut later this year, Gizmochina reports, citing insiders. The smartphone could feature a titanium frame and a flagship Snapdragon processor.
According to insider @PandaFlashPro on X, the tri-fold smartphone will use a combination of titanium and aluminum for the frame. This combination should improve durability, which is a key factor for large foldable devices.
The use of titanium, which can already be seen in the recent Galaxy S Ultra flagships, suggests that Samsung is aiming to give its new foldable phone a premium and durable design.
Under the hood, the device is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite, the same flagship chip found in the Galaxy S25 series. It will reportedly be paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, which should help the phone handle multitasking, gaming, and AI features with ease.
However, one detail may disappoint fans — the smartphone will probably not get an under-display camera (UDC). Instead, Samsung is rumored to leave the traditional notch with a 12MP front camera. This is consistent with rumors that Samsung is abandoning UDC technology due to its limitations — which is also reflected in leaks about the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold7.
Battery specifications are still under wraps, but rumors suggest that Samsung may use a conventional battery rather than the newer silicon-carbon cell, or a solid-state battery that is still in development. The battery capacity is expected to be around 4,400 mAh.
There is speculation that the tri-fold smartphone could make an appearance at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9 in New York, alongside the Z Fold7 and Z Flip7. A full launch is rumored to take place in October, at least in select markets like China and South Korea.
With a rumored price tag of around $2,800, the new Galaxy is shaping up to be a strong contender in the ultra-premium foldable market, potentially taking on rivals like the Huawei Mate XT thanks to its innovative software features.
