The SBU detained a 40-year-old employee of the information security department of one of the commercial banks in Kyiv, recruited by the FSB.
The attacker transferred confidential information about the bank's clients, namely military personnel and volunteers, to the aggressor, the SBU reports .
The enemy could use the obtained data to conduct information sabotage, prepare terrorist attacks, and also for recruitment operations against Ukrainian defenders.
During the search, law enforcement officers found an arsenal of equipment on the detainee: three laptops with personal data of potential "targets", as well as four smartphones with removable SIM cards for covert communication. Evidence on the gadgets directly confirms his cooperation with the FSB.
The investigation established that the bank employee was recruited due to his pro-Russian activity online.
At first, curators from the Russian Federation tested the agent with “test” tasks: he had to track down the deployments of the Defense Forces in Kyiv, photographing suspicious buildings during weekend walks.
Over time, the tasks became more serious - the defendant began collecting data on the accounts of volunteers and military personnel, as well as scouting the location of the backup data center, which stores the bank's database and its users.
The perpetrator is currently being held without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
A traitorous IT worker who became an agent of the Russian Federation was detained in the Kharkiv region. He already has one conviction for collaborating with the enemy
