Autonomy up to 2 months and immersion to 6 km. Quantum Systems introduced its first sea drones Seavex and Subvex

Drone manufacturer Quantum Systems has announced the launch of a new maritime direction and presented the first two systems — the Seavex surface autonomous hub and the Subvex deep-sea vehicle. The new developments are designed for maritime reconnaissance, surveillance, critical infrastructure protection and counter-UAV operations.

The presentation and testing of naval drones took place on September 14, 2026 in Sesimbra (Portugal) during NATO naval exercises.

Both platforms are fully integrated into a single MOSAIC UXS software architecture, which allows unmanned operations in the air, on land, and at sea to be combined into a common operational picture.

“We started in the air, expanded to land, and now we are going to sea. But the real step forward is not in adding another area, but in combining them,” said Florian Seibel, co-chairman and founder of Quantum Systems.

Vice President of Quantum Maritime Dirk Zademak emphasized that the deployment of such autonomous systems is designed to solve the problem of limited human resources when patrolling large sea areas.

Seavex is designed as a central autonomous node for communication, data collection and coordination of other unmanned systems in the marine area. The device is adapted for long-term operation in water temperatures from 0 °C to 40 °C.

Main technical characteristics of Seavex:

  • Autonomy: up to 2 months at sea.

  • Dimensions and weight: 8,5×6.5 m (draft 1.8 m), displacement 4,500 kg.

  • Payload: up to 400 kg.

  • Speed: maximum — 15 knots (patrol — 3 knots).

The platform operates in two main configurations:

  1. Persistent Maritime Surveillance: for continuous reconnaissance and over-the-horizon (ISR). Equipped with a 2D surveillance radar with a range of 48 nautical miles, a 4D anti-UAV radar (15 nautical miles), as well as optoelectronic systems (EO/IR) with laser rangefinder, color and thermal imaging (FLIR) cameras.

  2. Extending Air Defence: Used as a Counter-UAS system to counter drones. It is equipped with a launcher for interceptor drones and provides detection and neutralization of air threats to protect critical infrastructure and maritime facilities.

Seavex is capable of coordinating reconnaissance UAVs, other Seavex vessels and Subvex underwater systems as part of autonomous networks (swarms). The hub deck houses a DronePort module for autonomous take-off and landing of aerial drones. In addition, the device provides docking, battery charging and data transmission for Subvex underwater drones.

The Subvex autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) is designed to conduct underwater reconnaissance, monitor shipping, and protect critical infrastructure in difficult or confined water areas.

Main technical characteristics of Subvex:

  • Autonomy: up to 4 days in active movement mode or several weeks in passive observation mode on the seabed.
  • Dimensions and weight: length 4.2 m, diameter 533 mm (meets NATO torpedo tube standards), weight — 400 kg.
  • Working depth: up to 6,000 meters.

  • Payload: up to 20 kg.

  • Speed: patrol/surveillance — 3 knots, maximum — 8 knots.

The device has an onboard Edge AI module for real-time data processing.

Application features and ecosystem:

  • Autonomous network (mesh): Subvex devices can be combined into a single swarm network, distributing scanning and data exchange tasks over large areas.

  • Seavex integration: the drone automatically docks with the Seavex hub for data transfer, battery charging, and rapid redeployment without operator involvement.

  • Centralized management: all sensor data is processed by on-board artificial intelligence and combined into a single operational picture via the MOSAIC UXS platform.

Subvex underwater vehicles are able to unite into a single autonomous swarm network (mesh), distributing scanning and data exchange tasks over large areas. For information transmission, battery charging and rapid redeployment without the involvement of operators, the vehicle automatically docks with the Seavex floating hub. At the same time, all data from the sensors is processed by on-board artificial intelligence and compiled into a single operational picture via the MOSAIC UXS platform.

The German company Quantum Systems is well known in Ukraine for supplying Vector reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles to the Defense Forces. Quantum Systems has an R&D center, a service hub, and local UAV production in Ukraine. In the spring, it was reported that the company was preparing a new expansion of cooperation with the Ukrainian defense sector and plans to launch two more joint ventures with local manufacturers.
