The Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense announced changes to the draft age. What exactly is planned?
Roman Kostenko, Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine’s Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, said that the authorities plan to change the draft age.
Roman Kostenko, Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine’s Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, said that the authorities plan to change the draft age.
He said this on the air of the program «Great Lviv Speaks».
«I know that some radical things will be implemented now, that there are already talks and some things are changing in the draft age. I won’t elaborate, I think they will say that later. But regarding the draft age during mobilization, I know that movements are underway,» the MP commented.
At the same time, Roman Kostenko did not directly answer the host’s question about whether the lower or upper limit of the draft age would be changed.
«The Ministry of Defense or the General Staff, if any decisions are made finally, let them make a statement themselves. This is their task, their authority,» the secretary of the Rada’s defense committee emphasized.
As evidenced by Kostenko’s previous broadcast on the YouTube channel «Butusov Plus», the matter may involve lowering the upper limit of the conscription age from 60 to some lower figure.
«Maybe they will lower the threshold age a little, meaning the upper one. I don’t know 100%, but maybe they will make it 50 or 55 years old, because 60 is really a lot. I myself have repeatedly said that this needs to be done. You can leave at any age of your own free will — I myself developed a law that allows you to serve at 60+. I know many people in good shape who help out at the age of 70 — as repairmen, drivers, in support. And there are people who are enlisted in attack aircraft at 55, and they are not even able to walk three kilometers. This is just a burden for the brigades. Therefore, decisions need to be made here, and I think they will consider this issue,» Censor.Net quotes the parliamentarian .
