Ukrainian MilTech company "Wild Hornets", which produces Sting interceptor drones, is launching its own anti-drone air defense network. The Ministry of Defense has authorized the company to carry out air defense measures and form its own groups for the "Night Hornets" anti-shahid unit.
The new network will include remote control centers, a remote drone launch system based on Hornet Vision Ctrl technology, and field positions. The company emphasizes that it does not plan to sell a "site coverage" service. The work of the private air defense will be financed from its own funds.
The Night Hornets will operate where protection from Russian strike drones is needed, as part of Ukraine’s overall air defense system under the command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the company, the crews of the Night Hornets are already on combat duty every day together with the Ukrainian military. The unit has destroyed more than 50 "Shaheeds", including jet ones. Most of the targets, the company claims, were destroyed using the Hornet Vision Ctrl remote control technology.
How the Night Hornets work
The unit consists of Wild Hornets instructors and test pilots. Since October 2024, they, together with the Ukrainian military, have participated in the development and testing of prototypes of high-speed Sting interceptor drones, including using them against Russian "shaheeds" in combat conditions.
Since the summer of 2025, Night Hornets instructors have also been training Ukrainian military personnel to operate Sting interceptors. During this time, according to the company, they have trained more than 1,000 pilots.
In May 2026, the unit began combining training with direct participation in the defense of Ukrainian skies. During the day, instructors train military personnel, and at night, they help carry out combat missions in cooperation with units of the Defense Forces, remotely controlling interceptor drones.
Now the company plans to scale up this direction and create its own anti-drone air defense network. According to Wild Hornets, it should work, in particular, to protect the skies over Kyiv.
Earlier, the company introduced the high-speed Sting S interceptor, designed to counter Russian jet drones. It is undergoing combat testing. Wild Hornets claim that in a few days, using the Sting S, the Ukrainian military destroyed about 10 Russian Geran-4 jets and several small Geran-5 missiles.
Wild Hornets is a Ukrainian MilTech company that develops and manufactures unmanned systems. According to the company, its drones are used by over 100 units of the Defense Forces, including the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, the Special Operations Forces, the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service, the Air Force, and the State Border Guard Service.
