The A1 Artificial Intelligence Center under the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is developing a new AI system, SPECTR, to automate the work of military headquarters and increase the efficiency of operational planning. Several combat units are already involved in testing the new solution.
Key tasks of the AI platform:
analyzing information and discovering hidden patterns in really large data sets;
formation of recommendations for planning military operations and effective implementation of tasks;
predicting enemy actions and proposing optimal response scenarios;
automation of routine tasks to free up the time of command and operatives.
All developments are integrated into existing military systems of the Defense Forces and can work directly on local devices within a protected perimeter without the risk of leakage of sensitive data.
The A1 Artificial Intelligence Center was established by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in March 2026 with the assistance of the UK government. The Center's strategic goal is to transform the Armed Forces into a modern AI-driven army, where artificial intelligence technologies strengthen command and units.
The Center's work focuses on three main areas:
acceleration and improvement of accuracy of decision-making based on data analysis;
implementing AI directly into weapons of mass destruction;
Systematic reduction of paper and digital bureaucracy in the military.
Currently, the A1 Center is implementing three flagship projects in the field of defense innovations and battlefield data analysis, some of which are already being tested by Ukrainian defenders.
