Nvidia CEO's leather jacket to be auctioned at Sotheby's: expected to raise up to $60,000
Today, Jensen Huang is better known for transforming Nvidia from a gaming company into an AI supercorporation. But before that, the hype revolved around his ever-present leather jacket. Now, one of these legendary items is being auctioned off, with hopes of fetching between $40,000 and $60,000. All proceeds will go to charity.
Sotheby's, which has held many landmark technology auctions in recent years, will begin accepting bids on the black leather jacket on July 7. The lot, titled "The Jensen Jacket: Jensen Huang's Tom Ford Leather Jacket," is accompanied by a note that the item is connected to some of the most important moments in the history of modern technology, TechSpot reports .
The lot description added: Huang wore this jacket to product launches, developer conferences, and major announcements that helped define the rapid rise of artificial intelligence.
In addition, Huang left his autograph on the jacket, which will undoubtedly help raise the final winning bid even higher.
Thanks to Nvidia hardware, which is powering all this AI hype, Huang's net worth is estimated at $164-$200 billion. So it's clear that he's changed more than one leather jacket in recent years.
Sotheby's notes that this particular jacket was verified by the expert company Professional Sports Authenticator, which confirmed through photo verification that Huang was wearing it during the Hon Hai/Foxconn Tech Day event in Taipei on October 18, 2023. The authenticity of his autograph was also certified by the company James Spence Authentication.
