Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy celebrated the successful testing of the new Ruta missile.
A drone with the same name, which looks like a rocket, was supplied to Ukraine by the Swiss startup Destinus. Information about this was available almost a year ago, in early February 2024.
Also in June, at the Eurosatory 2024 exhibition, the Ruta missile from the same company, Destinus, was demonstrated at the Ukrainian stand.
Swiss startup Destinus, which develops hypersonic UAVs and aircraft and was founded by former Russian citizen Mikhail Kokorich, is also one of the main European suppliers of military drones to Ukraine. In January of this year, Kokorich, 48, renounced his Russian citizenship and calls himself an opponent of Putin.

Starting in the second quarter of 2023, Destinus delivered hundreds of low-cost drones to Ukraine, which had a range of 750 to over 2,000 km depending on the version and were designed to strike ground targets. They are also capable of performing reconnaissance missions, electromagnetic interception, and jamming.
The startup itself is based in Payerne, Switzerland, but drones have so far been manufactured in Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands. Most UAVs are exported from Germany.
