It seems that the enemy has found an antidote to Ukrainian naval drones. What ISW analysts say
The recent strike by a Russian drone on a Ukrainian naval drone may indicate that enemy forces are developing tools to counter domestic naval drones in the Black Sea.
The recent strike by a Russian drone on a Ukrainian naval drone may indicate that enemy forces are developing tools to counter domestic naval drones in the Black Sea.
As the Institute for the Study of War writes in its review, on February 1, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Russian Black Sea Fleet, using its own drone, destroyed a Ukrainian naval drone in the Black Sea.
According to information from the Internet analyzed by ISW, the Russians launched a Kronstadt Orion drone capable of carrying missiles from unspecified naval assets.
Thus, this strike may be the first documented instance of Russian forces using naval assets to deploy drones capable of destroying Ukrainian naval drones.
ISW also quotes numerous Russian military bloggers who are already calling on their authorities to increase production of X-UAV (TKB-1030) missiles to effectively combat Ukraine’s naval drones.
At the same time, ISW recalls that Ukrainian forces have long demonstrated their ability to shoot down Russian Mi-8 helicopters operating over the Black Sea using missiles launched from Magura V5 naval strike drones.
