Google has updated its AI agent: a desktop app for Mac, new integrations with popular services, MCP support, and real-time topic monitoring.
Google has announced a package of updates for Gemini Spark, an AI agent that performs tasks on behalf of the user. Three main areas: macOS app, new connected services, and real-time event tracking.
macOS application
Gemini Spark goes beyond browser chat to work directly with files and apps on your Mac. For example, you can ask it to sort PDFs in your Downloads folder into specific folders or create a budget spreadsheet in Google Sheets based on invoices from your computer.
Soon, it will be possible to run tasks remotely: for example, from your phone, ask Spark to find the desired file on your Mac, extract a number from it, and send it to your email — while you are away from your computer.
Available in beta for Google AI Ultra subscribers (ages 18 and up, US only for now). Download at gemini.google/mac .
New integrations
Google Tasks, Google Keep, Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable, and Zillow Rentals have been added to the list of connected services. Now, for example, you can ask Spark to collect notes from Keep and turn them into tasks in Tasks, design a flyer in Canva, or order a week’s worth of groceries through Instacart—all from one interface.
Separately, support for custom MCP (Model Context Protocol): now you can connect any service that supports the protocol to Spark and build your own personalized assistant. Integrations are rolling out to web and mobile within a week, and to macOS later.
Real-time monitoring
Spark can now monitor topics and react to events without user intervention. You can ask it to send you a summary after a match of your favorite football team, or notify you when a stock reaches a certain price. The list of sources to monitor includes blogs, news sites, social networks, finance, shopping, weather, sports, and mail.
Google has released Gemini Spark, an agent that works 24/7 even when the laptop is closed. What else can the new generation of models presented at I/O 2026 do?
