Spotify launches new running mode that uses AI to match music to your running rhythm

Streaming service Spotify has added a new mode for runners to its mobile app, which uses artificial intelligence to select music to match the user’s pace and specific stages of training.
As TechCrunch notes, now in the Fitness Hub section, Premium subscribers can choose from 25 pre-set workout options, including interval runs, steady-state running, or «pyramid.» Users can adjust the duration of the workouts, the tempo (BPM), and the music genre.
In addition to tracks, the mode also generates audio cues for transitions between stages of a run, although this feature only supports English for now.
The new tool is based on artificial intelligence algorithms that the platform managed to develop during testing of playlist generation functions based on text queries. Spotify emphasized that it was the active creation of playlists for gyms and runs by users that inspired the team to develop a separate specialized mode.
The launch of its own running mode comes months after fitness app Strava ended Spotify integration in its Record feature. Earlier this year, the streaming giant also expanded its presence in the sports space through a partnership with smart trainer maker Peloton.
The update is now available to Spotify Premium subscribers on iOS in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Sweden.
Spotify has previously added a new feature for Premium subscribers that allows for interactive dialogues with the app. Using artificial intelligence, users will be able to ask for track recommendations, learn the history of song creation, or analyze the content of podcasts and audiobooks via text or voice.
Тест dev.ua
