New details are gradually emerging about the mysterious device from OpenAI — it was previously described as a smart speaker with artificial intelligence .
According to Bloomberg , the device will be shaped like a donut so that users can easily carry it around the house and place it in different places, such as on a nightstand or kitchen counter.
Sources said the gadget will be made of "high-quality metal," have a "premium look," and — which sounds rather mysterious — will contain separate "moving parts."
The device may be a bit more expensive than a typical smart speaker — around $300 to $400 apiece. For comparison: most smart speakers from Amazon cost from $40 for basic models to $240 for top-of-the-line ones.
As TechCrunch summarized the new device, it will be “an expensive talking AI donut that also has moving parts.”
Recall that the company's attempt to enter the hardware market was not without problems. OpenAI was sued by Apple, which accused the AI lab of stealing trade secrets. OpenAI denies all charges.
