The characteristics of the MICH deepstrike drones, which literally and figuratively struck Novorossiysk the day before, have become known. What is the "Ukrainian shaheed" worth $40,000 capable of?
Finally, more detailed information has emerged about the MICH deepstrike drones, which have a range of up to 2,000 km and were recently used in the Defense Forces' operation against targets in Novorossiysk.
Finally, more detailed information has emerged about the MICH deepstrike drones, which have a range of up to 2,000 km and were recently used in the Defense Forces' operation against targets in Novorossiysk.
As dev.ua was informed by the press service of the manufacturer, which does not disclose its name, deepstrike drones are produced in two modifications — MICH 2000 and MICH PLUS.
The MICH drone was first mentioned in public by President Volodymyr Zelensky, but there was no detailed information about it.
The line of these long-range drones was created in 2024. They are designed for high-precision destruction of targets at distances from 250 to 2000 km. The maximum range of use depends on the mass of the installed warhead, which determines the permissible volume of fuel.
MICH 2000 is an autonomous strike UAV with a range of up to 2000 km and is designed to strike deep into enemy territory beyond the range of communications. The device operates according to a pre-programmed flight mission: it autonomously navigates to and strikes designated targets, without the need for constant communication or control from the operator.
At the same time, MICH PLUS is a strike UAV with a range of 250 to 1,700 km, depending on the selected combat load configuration. The device is designed according to the «flying wing» scheme without a tail, with two vertical keels.
The real-time communication system provides manual control throughout the flight, operational change of the flight task and route correction. Communication is implemented via a satellite channel, digital radio communication and mesh network support. The network supports coordinated operation of up to 42 devices with a separation of up to 60 km between adjacent sides.
The ATR system provides automatic target recognition and targeting. The video channel operates in day and thermal imaging modes; a laser designator and homing head are available.
The maximum take-off weight of the platform is 156 kg, and the weight of the combat load is from 20 to 70 kg. The length of the product is about 3 m, and the wingspan is 2.2 m. The flight duration is up to 630 minutes. The operating altitude of the UAV is from 50 to 160 m, and the maximum is 2000 m. The cruising speed of the drone is 162 km/h, and the maximum is 180 km/h
Six launch system options are available for MICH drones: truck-based (for 3 devices), trailer-based (for 5 and 7 devices), trailer with built-in launch rails (for 3 devices), fully equipped mission control station, and modular launch rail.
Production capacity is currently 6,000 devices per year, and the cost of the minimum configuration is up to $40,000.
The media is already comparing the MICH drones to the Iranian-Russian Shahed due to their similar functionality, shape, and price.
