Ukrainian missile developer Fire Point is preparing for final tests of its domestic ballistic missile. Combat use of the weapon against enemy targets could begin in the coming months.
Denis Shtilerman, the chief designer of Fire Point, spoke about such plans in an interview with Dmitry Gordon.
According to the developer, the company is currently focused on the stage of testing (burning) the engine on the stand. The main goal of the engineers is to check the structural integrity of the rocket and the reliability of its heat-shielding coating. If the tests are successful and the engine works properly, the company will immediately proceed to test launches across the territory of the Russian Federation.
"We launch, immediately conduct a test flight, see that everything works according to the flight task. And then flights to the territory of Russia begin. The military will determine where, but I think that these will immediately be some significant targets," said Stillerman.
Answering a question about the timing of the first missile strikes on Moscow, the chief designer predicted that this would happen in the fall of this year, although the exact month depends on the speed and results of the engine bench tests.
To ensure uninterrupted production of long-range weapons, the company diversified its production facilities. Instead of one enterprise, three specialized plants were built, equipped with large mixers for pouring rocket fuel. Shtilerman explained that such decentralization will allow production not to be stopped: in the event of enemy damage to one of the locations, the processes will be quickly transferred to another.
Earlier, Shtilerman told Sternenko that Ukraine has all the necessary technical means to completely paralyze the Russian economy and win the war. The main target should be the aggressor's oil exports, and systematic strikes on Moscow should complete the task.
