Musk announced his agreement to change the name of the division on the social network X (Twitter), writes Reuters. When asked by one of the users about the possible renaming, the billionaire replied: "Yes, we will make this change."
For now, SpaceXAI’s social media account X remains unchanged. Musk has not provided any additional information about the details or timing of the rebranding, and representatives of the division have refrained from official comments.
The initiative to abandon the traditional abbreviation belongs to US President Donald Trump. During his speech at the UN General Assembly last month, he called for a change in terminology at the global level: “From now on, in all documents of the United States, and hopefully around the world, the much more accurate term ‘super’ will be used instead of ‘artificial.’ So it’s ‘superintelligence.’”
Earlier, the American leader signed a decree officially replacing the term AI with SI (Super Intelligence). This initiative caused a surge of interest in the Slovenian domain zone (.si), which saw demand increase more than 20-fold in September.
Recall that in July 2026, the xAI startup ceased to exist as a separate legal entity after merging with SpaceX, as a result of which the developer of the Grok chatbot entered the structure of the space company under the SpaceXAI brand.
