Ukrainian defense company TAF Industries has bought a majority stake in Phantom Technology, the developer of the Tesla ground robotic complex (GRC). As part of the deal, miltech fund Resist.UA, which supported the project at an early stage, sold its stake in full, making a successful exit.
This is stated in the companies' press release. The financial details of the agreement, the value of the contract and the amount of the parties' investments are not disclosed.
Under the terms of the agreement, the founder of Phantom Technology is selling part of his stake, while the main investor in the project since 2024 — the Resist.UA fund — is completely exiting the company’s capital. The new majority owner, TAF Industries, plans to use its own capacities to scale up robot production for the needs of the Defense Forces.
«TAF Industries is expanding its product line in a new category for itself — ground robotic complexes. The NRC, the production of which we announced in early May, is being joined by another Teslya product — a logistics NRC for transporting cargo and evacuating the wounded, which is already used by the Defense Forces,» said Volodymyr Zinovsky, CEO of TAF Industries.
The Teslya logistics robot has been codified and was approved for operation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine in January 2025. The complex is designed to deliver cargo to the front line and evacuate the wounded. Thanks to its low profile and silent operation, it remains inconspicuous on the battlefield. The robot with a load capacity of up to 180 kg is equipped with an all-wheel drive six-wheel chassis with separate engines for each wheel, can perform a «tank» turn on the spot and is equipped with airless tires. A quick-change battery with a capacity of 6 kWh provides up to 4 hours of autonomous operation (or up to 40 km of travel) at a speed of up to 10 km/h.
On the Brave1 platform, the cost of the basic Tesla kit is UAH 307,100, and the version with an integrated Starlink terminal costs UAH 531,760.
«We are very proud that we supported this product at the time of its inception. Behind Tesla stands a strong engineering team and a truly high-quality product that has proven its value in extremely difficult conditions. Today, the technology is passing into the reliable hands of a company capable of scaling production, and therefore ensuring a greater presence of such systems at the front and helping our military,» said Roman Sulzhyk, founder of the Resist.UA fund.
Earlier, Finnish defense group Summa Defence Plc and Ukrainian company TAF Industries signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that envisages possible cooperation in the production of drones in Finland. This is the «Build with Ukraine» initiative, which aims to outsource some of the defense production to safe partner countries.
