A workplace without chaos: how Ukrainian brand TEHNOTABLE made a “smart” desk that competes with Secretlab

A workplace without chaos: how Ukrainian brand TEHNOTABLE made a “smart” desk that competes with Secretlab

A few years ago, bottom-powered desks hit the market, a solution that revolutionized the way a modern workplace should look. One of the first such models was introduced by Secretlab, the MAGNUS Pro desk, which quickly became a cult favorite among IT professionals and gamers thanks to its clean design and attention to detail.

And now the Ukrainian company TEHNOTABLE presents its own interpretation of this format — Streamline. A solution that combines industrial reliability, minimalist design, and a space without wires.

Less wires, more focus

If you’ve ever tried to organize cables under a desk, you know how frustrating it can be. Bottom connection changes everything: the power cable runs through the desk support straight to the outlet.

No chaos at your feet, no dust accumulation, and the robot vacuum cleaner finally doesn’t get tangled in wires. But the most important thing is visual peace.
Psychologists say that excessive clutter reduces concentration by up to 30%. That’s why the clean desk trend has become the new norm for people who work with high cognitive loads — analysts, developers, designers.

Why IT professionals are switching to height-adjustable desks

Sitting for six hours a day is already a health risk. Studies in the American Journal of Epidemiology show that inactivity increases the risk of cardiovascular disease by 54% and slows down metabolism by almost a third.

That’s why height-adjustable desks have become standard at major companies, from Google to Grammarly. They allow you to change your position every 40–45 minutes, improving blood circulation and focus.
Ukrainian companies are also beginning to massively implement such solutions — and TEHNOTABLE is at the forefront of this movement.

Countertop materials Metal + MDF, magnetic connection 1500×700 mm /1770×800 mm Hpl, hpl on plywood, chipboard, MDF, oak, ash, walnut (1200–1800×600–820 mm)

Secretlab’s solution once became an example of a premium product: clean lines, branding, and a convenient cable niche.
But there is one nuance that is rarely noticed in promotional videos: the MAGNUS Pro countertop consists of two parts
The front panel is made of MDF with a nanotextured coating, and the back is made of steel, under which there is a cable compartment.
Both sections are connected by magnets, which looks futuristic, but creates an additional magnetic field near the equipment and reduces the overall thickness of the surface, affecting stability when working with large monitors.

In addition, the basic version of MAGNUS Pro has a fixed tabletop size of 1500 × 700 mm, with a 100 mm niche for cables.
In this configuration, the distance to the user’s eyes is about 600 mm, which becomes a noticeable limitation when working with large monitors (over 27 inches).

Only in the MAGNUS Pro XL version (1770 × 800 mm) does the distance become comfortable for the eyes and meets ergonomic standards, but it is worth understanding that not everyone has the opportunity to place a table of such dimensions in their workspace.

Ukrainian Streamline approaches this issue differently: the user chooses the size, shape, and material of the countertop — from budget chipboard to natural oak or walnut.
The design is integral, without gaps and magnets, which has a positive effect on rigidity, stability and the absence of external influences on the electronics .

Ukrainian alternative: stability above all else

In Streamline, engineers have strengthened the basic structure, making it as stable as possible when lifting, even under load.
They added quieter motors, thought out collision protection, child locks, and made the controls intuitive — a touch panel with an LED display and three memory positions.

The user can choose the size and material of the countertop — from budget chipboard to natural oak or walnut.
The set includes cable management under the tabletop, which allows you to hide all the wires and sockets. As a result, the space looks like a scene from a movie about the future.

A technical look from the inside

We asked the co-founder of TEHNOTABLE, Alexander Renev, who, before creating the furniture business, headed the design bureau at an aviation enterprise for over ten years, which is now one of the world’s TOP manufacturers of unmanned systems, whether the team plans to develop a shelf for the system unit similar to the MAGNUS Pro solution.

«We analyzed this solution,» explains Oleksandr. «But we saw that most such mounts do not take into account the real weight of the PC, which often reaches 15–20 kg. When the case is suspended only by the lower part, there is a risk of deformation of the case .
We cannot take on such responsibility, especially considering the cost of our clients' equipment.
That’s why we developed our own PC Wing shelf — with a bottom support that holds the case in the correct position, according to the manufacturers' specifications. In future versions, we also plan to include side mounts for cases that are structurally compatible with this.»

Result

Streamline is a logical, balanced solution for those who value order and stability in their work.
No unnecessary shine, just thoughtful ergonomics, silence during movement and the feeling that every detail is made with intelligence.

Thank you to the TEHNOTABLE team for the interesting tests, openness, and for allowing us to understand the design from the inside.
And let’s be honest: now the phrase «I want a desk like this» is increasingly heard in the Dev.ua editorial office 😄
