The Ministry of Defense automates drone procurement: state orders will depend exclusively on digital statistics from the front

The solution is designed to eliminate the human factor, subjective influence, and corruption risks, as well as eliminate the need for the military to independently refine low-quality devices.
From now on, the need for drones will be formed automatically based on objective data from the battlefield. The state will finance only those UAVs that actually work and hit targets. The corresponding order has already been signed by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov.
"The transition from manual needs formation to an automatic model will make it possible to remove the "zoo" of ineffective solutions that the military is forced to refine with their own hands in the trenches. The state will purchase only what really flies, hits targets, and has proven its effectiveness at the front," the head of the Ministry of Defense wrote on social networks.
How the new selection algorithm will work
According to the new rules, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will form procurement requests, indicating exclusively the necessary technical specifications, without reference to specific names or brands of manufacturers.
The direct selection of models for the front will be based on an automatic UAV rating. This rating will be generated by combining data from several digital platforms.
In particular, statistics on the real effectiveness of assets ("eBalls"), information on the real demand of military units in the field (DOT-Chain and Brave1 Market), as well as the synchronization matrix and combat application analytics (DELTA and Mission Control) will be taken into account.
According to Mikhail Fedorov, this is the first time that procurement decisions will be made automatically based on real combat performance. If a drone is not flying or is not capable of performing a task, the system simply will not generate a need for it.
"This is the first time that procurement decisions are made automatically based on real combat data. If a drone doesn't fly or doesn't hit targets, the system simply won't generate a need for it. Only the real combat result is important," Fedorov said.
At the same time, the principle of funding distribution is also changing. The lion's share of the budget, namely 80% of the funds, will be directed exclusively to those solutions that have already confirmed their effectiveness with digital data. The remaining 20% of the budget is reserved for the purchase of innovative developments, which will allow testing new technologies directly in combat conditions quickly and without unnecessary bureaucracy.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense announced the launch of a basic minimum for providing brigades with drones and the transition to automatic calculation of needs based on data from units.
"The market is saturated, we are at the peak." The head of the electronic warfare department of the Land Forces announced the exhaustion of basic solutions for countering drones
