"There is not a single power plant left in Ukraine that has not been hit by the enemy during the war." Shmyhal revealed how much money has been allocated for work to protect energy infrastructure
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal reported that the worst situation persists in Kyiv and the region, as well as in the Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv regions and frontline communities.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal reported that the worst situation persists in Kyiv and the region, as well as in the Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv regions and frontline communities.
According to Shmyhal, the work is being carried out in close coordination with the Defense Forces, as the enemy continues to rely on energy terror. The government official emphasized that the state is aware of all threats and is responding to them as quickly as possible so as not to allow Russia to break the resistance of Ukrainians through the cold and darkness.
"There is not a single power plant left in Ukraine that has not been hit by the enemy during the war. Thousands of megawatts of generation have been knocked out. No one in the world has faced such a challenge. Despite this, the energy system remains intact," the First Deputy Prime Minister said, noting that the worst situation persists in Kyiv and the region, as well as in the Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv regions and frontline communities.
According to the Minister of Energy, the government has allocated more than 50 billion hryvnias to strengthen the engineering protection of energy infrastructure.
In order to reduce the burden on domestic generation and preserve more resources for hospitals, schools, and the population, strict requirements have been introduced for strategic enterprises.
Denys Shmyhal instructed Ukrzaliznytsia, Naftogaz, and Ukroboronprom to urgently ensure the purchase of imported electricity, which should cover at least 50% of their own consumption. The priority in the distribution of Ukrainian electricity remains unchanged - this is critical infrastructure and the needs of ordinary people.
According to the Minister of Energy, more than 15,000 specialists are currently involved in the restoration work as part of repair teams. Along with them, tens of thousands of rescuers, police officers, and utility workers are working 24/7, doing everything possible to restore power to homes.
Separately, the Deputy Prime Minister assured that despite the massive use of generators, no fuel shortage is expected. According to him, Ukraine has formed stable reserves for over 20 days, and import volumes are breaking records: since the beginning of the year alone, more than 220,000 tons of gasoline and diesel have been imported, which allows us to respond promptly to any changes in demand.
Previously, the head of the Ministry of Energy strongly urged businesses to turn off outdoor advertising, in particular the illumination of facades and large screens, as he called it unethical at the moment.
