TikTok has taken another step in developing its own e-commerce ecosystem and, without further ado, launched a standalone app, TikTok Shop. The new service allows users to buy products through live broadcasts and short videos, receive personalized recommendations, track orders, and contact customer support.

The companion app is currently available on iOS and Android in four Southeast Asian countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines, TechCrunch reports .
The launch of a separate client will allow TikTok to expand its customer base beyond the main social network and directly compete with online retail giants such as Amazon and Temu. It also demonstrates the company's willingness to scale social commerce by creating a full-fledged infrastructure for it.
According to the description in the app stores, users are offered:
free shipping and special discounts on your first order;
exclusive promotional offers that are valid only within the new application (this is how TikTok encourages users to switch from the main service);
built-in secure payment and real-time parcel tracking.
