Trump Mobile appears to have already leaked users' personal data through a trivial security hole

According to Stephen Findaizen, a popular YouTuber who investigates online fraud under the pseudonym Coffeezilla, anyone who has ordered Donald Trump's branded smartphone, the T1, risks having their personal data leaked to the world.

First of all, Findaizen claims that the Trump Mobile website contains a simple vulnerability that allows even a novice hacker to both place fake pre-orders for the T1 and view the full list of pre-order data. The YouTuber was informed about this by a familiar "white hat" hacker who was able to provide Findaizen's name, information about his order and mailing address, as well as other personal data, Futurism writes .

“Don’t place an order on TrumpMobile.com unless you’re prepared to have your data leaked,” Findaizen said. “It’s really that bad.”

This situation raises additional serious concerns, given that Trump Mobile also offers cellular service nationwide. If the company is unable to protect customers even at the checkout stage, what does this mean for users who connect their devices directly to Trump Mobile’s network?

Given that this data leak apparently covered absolutely all pre-orders for the T1, Findaizen's hacker friend concluded that the number of orders currently stands at around 30,000. This is significantly less than the 600,000 pre-orders previously reported.

Significantly, in an interview with USA Today earlier this month, Trump Mobile CEO Pat O'Brien declined to say exactly how many pre-orders for the T1 the company has received.

Neither Findaizen nor Charles White Jr. — another YouTuber whose data was among the leaked ones — ever received a response from Trump Mobile. In the end, neither did the Futurism editorial team.

And this is just another painful blunder for the president's personal mobile brand.

After nearly nine months of delays, the $499 T1 smartphone finally seems to be making its way to prominent media and influencers. However, as tech enthusiasts have discovered, the phone's design bears an uncanny resemblance to the Taiwanese HTC U24 Pro. If this is indeed just a rebranding of the Taiwanese device, it would directly contradict previous marketing materials that claimed the phone would be "made right here in the USA."
