“I hope this will still happen after the war.” The CEO of Vodafone Ukraine explained when 5G will become not a pilot in individual cities, but a general practice

Olga Ustinova, CEO of Vodafone Ukraine, predicts that the company will fully switch to 5G technology after the end of the war, as this area requires significant investments.
She mentioned this in an interview with Radio Liberty.
«Indeed, there is a pilot in Lviv, in Borodyanka. We will see how it all works. And then we will make a decision to make 5G not a test, but a new investment project in general. But I hope this will still happen after the war, because it requires more frequencies, requires a lot of investment,» Ustinova said.
She also emphasized that 5G technology consumes significantly more energy than 4G and 3G networks, so its widespread introduction will be a difficult task in conditions of blackouts.
«We are conducting 5G pilots. That is, we will need frequencies for the new technology in order to expand… These are test zones, we are trying to understand how they work so that they do not interfere, including with the military. Because these are frequencies on which different, say, players can work… That is why we are testing now,» the CEO of the mobile operator added in an interview.
We will remind you that on January 12, a 5G pilot was launched in the center of Lviv: Kyivstar, Vodafone, and lifecell subscribers whose smartphones support this technology had the opportunity to try a new level of speed in the coverage area.
The Cabinet is preparing 5G frequencies in two bands for a tender. What is most interesting is that the military will also be able to deploy private 4G/5G networks. Here’s what we learned
