«My team and I came up with an approach called Secure by Design. That is, we decided to reconsider the approach altogether. What is Secure by Design? When you build an IT project, you already have to build it in accordance with all cybersecurity standards. You have a requirement. It must be designed in such a way that it is already protected. It’s like a vaccine for children. When it’s an adult, diseases cannot pass,» he said in an interview with the Apostrophe publication.
Bornyakov also clarified how exactly they increase the protection of state IT systems.
«We conduct audits, involve white hat hackers, create SOCs (Security Operations Centers). Recently, the Rada voted for us to join a joint cybersecurity task force with Europeans. If we have a cyber incident, we can involve foreigners so that they can also help us protect it,» added the head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs.
As Bornyakov assured, as a result of applying this approach, the state will receive products «that are almost impossible to crack, because their architecture initially included ways to hack them.»
