Turkish company tests "autonomous fleet." Two pilotless fighter jets fly in formation for the first time in history

The manufacturer of Bayraktar drones, known in Ukraine as Baykar, a Turkish company, has used two unmanned fighter jets in a pair for the first time in aviation history. The planes flew in formation under the control of «intelligent autonomy algorithms.»
The Baykar company, which tested prototypes of the Kizilelma PT3 and PT5 unmanned fighter jets, reported about the tests on its official website.
«This was the first time in the history of world aviation that two unmanned fighter jets performed an autonomous flight in close formation,» the Turkish manufacturer notes.
During the tests, the Kizilelma PT3 and PT5 prototypes took off in sequence, and after climbing, the unmanned fighters acted in a coordinated manner, flying in formation with an autonomous combat pilot. According to the company, this was ensured by Baykar’s own intelligent autonomy algorithms for the fleet.
«This technological advancement allows autonomous systems to perform complex aerial missions that were traditionally performed by manned fighter jets,» the Turkish company added.
During the test flight, the aircraft also performed a combat air patrol mission, one of the core elements of modern air warfare.
«Bayraktar Kizilelma prototypes carried out a patrol flight along a predetermined route using fleet autonomy software,» Baykar said.
The Turkish arms manufacturer states that in the future, patrol and interception missions traditionally performed by manned fighters will be performed by the autonomous Kizilelma fleet.
