According to the latest DOU programming language rating, TypeScript has become the most popular language among Ukrainian IT professionals, overtaking JavaScript.
The DOU publication published the results of an annual survey on programming languages, in which about 7,500 IT professionals from Ukraine participated.
«Finally, TypeScript overtook JavaScript, which moved from first place to third. Python came in second, and C# came in fourth (overtaking Java). PHP’s share has hardly changed», — DOU noted.
TypeScript or TS is a free, open-source, high-level programming language developed by Microsoft. It adds static typing to JavaScript with additional type annotations, is designed for developing large applications, and is transpilable to JavaScript.
TypeScript has shown significant growth in popularity, especially in the field of front-end development, where it is gradually replacing JavaScript.
Python — increasing use in various fields, including Data Science, AI/ML, and analytics.
C# and Java showed a decrease in usage share, which may be due to the transition to more modern platforms and languages.
Rust: Remains a favorite language among developers, although its use is not yet widespread.

Software Engineers have listed TypeScript, Python, and JavaScript as the most preferred languages for future projects.
QA most commonly uses Java, Python, and TypeScript.
