British Railways has suspended train services after images of a damaged bridge appeared on social media.
After the earthquake that struck England last week, a photo of the destroyed 179-year-old Carlisle Railway Bridge in Lancaster appeared on social media, writes the BBC.
When Network Rail became aware of the image, it suspended rail services across the bridge while workers attempted to assess any damage to critical infrastructure.
The fairly realistic image showed a partial collapse, but the bridge actually suffered no damage. It was an AI-generated photo.

A total of 32 passenger and freight trains were delayed or stopped because of this photo.
Network Rail has urged people to "consider the serious impact this could have" before creating or distributing fake images.
