The General Staff is considering the possibility of disabling mobile Internet during attacks by enemy drones that use SIM cards from other countries, including Ukraine.

As «Novynarnya» writes, a source in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine informed the publication about this.

«The enemy wants to know where his drone has flown — that’s why he uses SIM cards of mobile operators for this. Due to this, he can receive information about the current state of affairs…», the publication’s interlocutor emphasized.

He emphasized that the Russians use mobile communications or Mesh networks when launching Shahed or Gerber.

A specialist from the General Staff also said that there is a bill in parliament regarding the possibility of turning off mobile Internet during air raids.

«Perhaps it would be advisable to reduce the speed of the Internet in order to reduce, for example, the transmission of information to the FPV drone camera. This is technically possible. And if, for example, tomorrow the Russians massively launch drones with Ukrainian cards, then this (disabling the mobile Internet) would really make sense,» the official believes.

As for the incident with Russian drones entering Polish territory, the General Staff is confident that this is not an accident and is not the result of the actions of Ukrainian electronic warfare equipment.

«During this incident, no Ukrainian electronic warfare equipment was observed. That night, the drones were flying in two groups: from east to west, and from the direction of Belarus. Everything was aimed at ensuring that the drones reached Poland,» a source in the General Staff is convinced.

The discussion about the possible shutdown of mobile communications and the Internet in the path of enemy «shaheeds» has been going on for a long time. Back in late May, dev.ua received an insider tip from a mobile operator about how Russian shaheeds actually use our mobile networks.

The fact that Ukraine may begin to disable mobile communications and the Internet along the flight path of enemy UAVs, and this method is already actively used in Russia, was previously stated by a specialist in the field of radio technologies, military and engineer Sergey «Flash» Bezkrestnov.

In turn, the mobile operator Kyivstar did not provide a clear answer as to whether they would turn off communications and the Internet in the path of the Russian «shaheeds»: they said that they would «take all necessary measures, but they do not have the right to disclose their content.»
