A judge of the Halytskyi District Court of Lviv is considering the case of a businessman who offered his services to arrange reservations on behalf of an IT company for $6,000. We tell you the details.
According to the case materials, the investigator of the Department of Investigation of Particularly Serious Crimes of the Investigation Department of the State Police Headquarters in Lviv Region applied to the investigating judge with a request for permission to temporarily access information located on a Xiaomi 13 Pro mobile phone, a transparent A4 file containing 60 $100 bills, and copies of documents for a person.
The case concerns the illegal smuggling of people across the state border of Ukraine. According to investigators, the suspected organizer of the scheme received $6,000 from a man who wanted to flee Ukraine in a Lviv shopping center, which, according to the NBU exchange rate on January 17, 2025, is UAH 253,037 for the smuggling service.
The scheme looked like this: the businessman promised the potential fugitive an employment contract with an IT company, subsequent booking with the IT company, and arranging a business trip abroad.
On January 17, during the detention of the organizer of the scheme, items and money were seized from him, to which investigators are requesting access for examination. Also, during a search of the suspect’s home, several sets of documents belonging to various individuals were found, to which investigators have also requested access.
The court granted the request, granting access to all items and documents.
