A €3.3 million program has been launched within the Brave1 defense cluster, funded by our EU partners. Thanks to this, Ukrainian miltech manufacturers will be able to receive grants for the development of interceptor drones and radars.
The allocation of funds was announced by the EU Ambassador to Ukraine, Katarina Maternova, during a press briefing dedicated to the launch of the Brave1 grant program within the framework of EU4UA Defence Tech.
In turn, First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov clarified which specific developments will receive funding.
"The program will be funded with checks of up to 150,000 euros and is aimed at developing interceptors that will work against the Shahed and Gerber. It will target jet interceptors that will reach speeds of more than 450 km/h," Fedorov explained.
According to him, today there are already several dozen companies working in Ukraine that develop interceptor drones, but now the authorities and manufacturers are working together to reach the goal that the President has already announced - to have 1,000 interceptor drones per day.
Of particular relevance, according to Mikhail Fedorov, is the task of intercepting jet "shaheeds".
"Russia is starting to produce more and more of them. And this grant program will be aimed at this task," the First Deputy Prime Minister noted.
In addition to interceptor drones, this project will make it possible to finance the development of radars.
"It is impossible to imagine a modern small air defense system where a significant share is occupied by interceptors without a radar field. The radar field is, in fact, the eyes that allow us to identify the "shahed" and then hit it," stated Mikhail Fedorov.
