This is stated in the response of the Main Communications Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the information request of dev.ua.
«Such integration requires not only the availability of the necessary software and data, but also thorough checks, testing, and appropriate personnel training, as the price of errors can be too high,» they explained the situation there.
The General Directorate of Communications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that at present the most promising direction is the application of artificial intelligence technologies for intelligence analysis.
«However, it should be noted that all decisions based on the results of such analysis are made exclusively by military personnel responsible for this area,» the department commented.
They also added that the coordination of measures to apply AI technologies in combat management processes and the further development of the necessary software is carried out with the participation of the Central Department of Innovation Activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In addition, in response to our request, we were reminded that the Armed Forces have a concept for developing and implementing artificial intelligence in the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
«It is worth noting that the above concept requires regular updating, since the global dynamics of the development of artificial intelligence technologies is very high. Thus, it is necessary to constantly assess the possibility of applying technological changes in the interests of the Defense Forces,» the response states.
We were also informed that the advisability of involving private companies in the development of specific solutions is determined by the Ministry of Defense at the stage of initiating the relevant project.
As dev.ua reported, Ukraine is scaling up the use of artificial intelligence on the battlefield by expanding its partnership with American tech giant Palantir Technologies. Thus, in the joint project of Palantir and the Ministry of Defense, Brave1 Dataroom, more than 100 companies are already training AI models .
