Ukrainian defense company UFORCE, known for its Magura marine drones, has begun recruiting Formula 1 experts to work on unmanned systems. The company wants to use their experience to create lighter, more reliable, and more technologically advanced drones.

UFORCE co-founder Oleg Roginsky said this in an interview with DOU.

He argues that motorsport has given such engineers a skill set that transfers well to Defense Tech, as they work with composites and carbon, sensors, electric and conventional engines, and are used to literally fighting for every extra gram of a design.

According to him, what is especially valuable for UFORCE is the ability of such specialists to simultaneously reduce the weight of the system, maintain its reliability, and quickly make changes. In Formula 1, engineering solutions constantly have to be reworked and improved “for tomorrow” — a similar pace is needed in Ukrainian Defense Tech.

"The main thing is that they know how to squeeze every gram of excess weight out of the system and make it work as reliably as possible in their usual rhythm, where everything needs to be redone and improved "for tomorrow." Every time we combine an engineer from Formula 1 with our Ukrainian talent and set them a common task, real magic occurs," says Roginsky.

Previously, dev.ua wrote that UFORCE attracted $50 million in investments at a valuation of over $1 billion.
