Domestic drone production has increased by 900% over the past year.
This is reported by Defense Express, citing research by the Atlantic Council and Georgetown Security Studies Review think tanks.
According to analysts from the aforementioned centers, Ukraine’s UAV production has increased from 20,000 units per month in the summer of 2024 to over 200,000 now.
At the same time, they note that Ukraine should move to long-term mechanisms and additional investments in new technologies. For example, they note that Ukraine files a small number of patents for unmanned technologies, and protecting its own developments is an important step in stimulating the development of the direction and further scientific and industrial developments.
Western authors also draw attention to the need for long-term contracts for the defense industry, which will allow enterprises to develop.
Another aspect emphasized in the study is the need to establish a quality standard for products to solve the problem of supplying problematic products.
The study concludes that Ukraine needs to create a balance between mass production and the use of technology and specialized UAVs.
Earlier, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov reported that 96,2% of all drones for the Defense Forces in 2024 were Ukrainian drones.
The Ministry of Strategic Industry, in turn, stated that Ukraine has sufficient production capacity to produce over 3 million drones per year.
