Ukrainian company Skyfall reported that its P1-Sun interceptor drones have destroyed more than 3,000 Russian Shaheds since the beginning of 2026.
According to, this was stated at the European Business Summit by Anna Gvozdiar, an advisor to the Minister of Defense. She said that Ukrainian manufacturers have already created interceptor drones with an average cost of up to $3,000, and it is precisely such solutions that allow shooting down Russian strike drones much cheaper.
The key advantage of such systems is the economics of interception. According to Gvozdyar, a missile for a classic air defense system costs about $20,000–30,000, while the cost of the Shahed itself can reach $50,000. Against this background, cheap interceptors make it possible not to waste expensive missiles on massive air targets, which Russia launches in the hundreds and thousands.
Gvozdiar also noted that thanks to such solutions, the Defense Forces can intercept up to 90% of Russian «Shaheeds». She recalled that in January alone, Russia used more than 6,000 missiles and drones. That is why for Ukraine the issue is not only the accuracy of interception, but also the ability to scale up sky defense without a critical increase in costs.
Skyfall operates in one of the most dynamic segments of Ukrainian defense tech, where private companies are creating means of combating kamikaze drones. The P1-Sun is one such product. The Forbes article also notes that four of the five most effective Ukrainian interceptors are created by private manufacturers, not state structures.
This story shows that a separate market for cheap means of countering massive drone attacks is forming in Ukraine. If earlier the main focus was on traditional air defense, now interceptors are playing an increasingly important role, which can be produced faster and in much larger volumes. For the front, this is a question not only of technology, but also of resources: the cheaper one shot down, the longer the system can withstand waves of massive attacks.
Previously, dev.ua wrote about how the Danish government has begun negotiations with Ukrainian defense company SkyFall regarding the possible opening of production in the country. If the parties agree, this will be another case of localization of Ukrainian defense tech in Europe.
