GUR cyber experts hacked the "Moscow Institute of Thermal Engineering" - its enterprises create key components for missiles
Specialists of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine conducted a unique cyber operation, as a result of which they obtained a large amount of data on the activities of the Russian corporation "Moscow Institute of Thermal Engineering" (MIT). Specialists of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine conducted a unique cyber operation, as a result of which they obtained a large amount of data on the activities of the Russian corporation "Moscow Institute of Thermal Engineering" (MIT). Ukrainian intelligence officers obtained information about the structure of the enterprise, its existing and prospective developments, management and employees.
MIT is a key facility in the Russian defense-industrial complex, which includes the Prozhektor Design Bureau, the Vympel Machine-Building Plant, the Votkinsky Plant, and the Iskra enterprise, the GUR press service reports .
"At the facilities of the MIT corporation located in Moscow and other regions of the aggressor state, drawings, software, engines and other key components are created, mathematical modeling and testing of control units are carried out," the Ukrainian intelligence service said in a statement.
At the corporation's facilities, components are created and tested for:
intercontinental ballistic missiles "Yars" (the main component of the Russian nuclear forces) and "Topol-M";
Bulava submarine-launched ballistic missiles;
operational-tactical complexes "Iskander-M";
the latest hypersonic ballistic systems "Kedr"/"Oreshnik".
In addition, MIT engineers are working on military satellite communication systems for the Russian Armed Forces. In particular, they are developing technologies for quickly launching military satellites into low orbit to provide combat control, as well as a unified space platform "Type-order" to enhance reconnaissance capabilities. Another critical project of the corporation is the development of the "Start-1M" launch vehicle for the deployment of optical-electronic and radar reconnaissance networks.
Thanks to the hack, the GUR established the personal data of 2,648 people involved in the production of weapons and the murders of Ukrainians. Among them are the Director General of MIT, Lieutenant General (ret.) Sergey Ponomarev, and his deputies (Yuriy Kirillov, Yuriy Solomonov, Andrey Bashirov, Artyom Khrebin, Sergey Solonichkin).
The intelligence agency will use the obtained data to weaken the military potential of the aggressor state and hold all those involved accountable for war crimes.
Intelligence has thoroughly analyzed the Russian drone with AI "Klyn": it contains components from manufacturers from at least six countries. What are the features of the UAV?
