Ukrainian schoolchildren won gold and two silver medals at the 2026 International Olympiad in Informatics
The Ukrainian school team won one gold medal, two silver medals, and an honorary diploma at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2026), which was held in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) from August 9 to 16. This is one of the most prestigious international competitions for schoolchildren in the field of programming, in which 375 participants from 92 countries of the world took part this year.

The International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) was first held in Bulgaria in 1989. Ukraine has been participating in the Olympiad since 1992. The competition consists of two days of programming and solving algorithmic problems. The Olympiad is attended by teams from each country, which were formed during participation in national competitions. Participants compete on an individual basis.
Results of Ukrainian participants:
Vladyslav Khalin (11th grade student of Kharkiv Lyceum No. 118) — gold medal (coach — Valentyn Melnyk).
Ilya Shevchenko (graduate of the Kharkiv Lyceum "Boyka Author's School") - silver medal (coaches: Valentyn Melnyk, Oleksandr Mitsa, Andriy Popyk, Mykola Arzubov).
Darya Perekopska (graduate of the Dnipro Scientific Lyceum of Information Technologies) — silver medal (coach — Valentyn Melnyk).
Daria Lobas (12th grade student at Adam Mickiewicz Secondary School No. III in Wrocław) — honorary diploma.
The leaders of the Ukrainian team at the competition were Anton Tsypko, Valentyn Melnyk, and Yana Cheyshvili.
The Ukrainian delegation's trip was organized by the Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Federation of Olympiad Programming of Ukraine. Financial support was provided by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Citadel company.
