Ukrainian defense tech company Celebra announced the imminent public presentation of the domestic laser weapon «Trident».
As the company informed dev.ua, the development is already undergoing final testing.
The manufacturer notes that as of today, the «Trident» has evolved significantly, and the development of the weapon lasted for more than two years.
Currently, the system is capable of shooting down reconnaissance drones at a distance of up to 1,500 m, destroying their optics, electronics, and structural elements, as well as wing shells.
«Last winter, Trident was already testing FPV drones. At that time, the product was tested on drones of different sizes — 7, 8, 9, 13,» the manufacturer’s press release states.
Since then, the following improvements have been made:
guidance system using artificial intelligence;
capturing and tracking targets;
integration with radars to track the movement trajectory.
As of now, the effective range of FPV is 800–900 m.
In addition to shooting down air targets, the Trident performs two additional functions: private air defense and mine clearance.
«Today, the Trident is practically capable of hitting a target at a distance of 5 km — this will allow it to effectively shoot down Shahed drones. The product is undergoing final testing, and engineers are improving the guidance system. In the near future, the company will be ready to present the product to the public in more detail,» Celebra Tech announces.
Ukraine has demonstrated a laser weapon capable of destroying ballistic missiles at a distance of up to 3 km, and airplanes and helicopters at a distance of up to 5 km. What else can the Trident do?
«It really works, it really exists.» The Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces reported that Ukraine already has a laser weapon called the Trident, which can shoot down enemy aircraft and is being actively improved.
