Ukrainian turret "Burya", which allows firing from cover, has been approved for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Ministry of Defense has allowed the use of the «Storm» robotic turret from Frontline Robotics in the troops.

According to a press release from Frontline Robotics, the system is already being used at the front, and its official approval opens up the possibility of large-scale deliveries to units. «Storm» is designed to remotely engage targets from closed positions, meaning the operator can work without leaving cover.

The turret supports various types of weapons. The basic version is compatible with Mk 19, RDS40, AGL 53 grenade launchers, and the «Storm 2.0» version additionally works with the Browning M2 machine gun. The system has a full 360-degree rotation circle and allows you to fire in a given sector.

One of the key features is the built-in ballistic calculator. It allows you to work not by eye, but by coordinates. After a shot, the system can automatically adjust the fire depending on the actual hit. The tilt of the platform is also taken into account, which is important when working in field conditions.

«Storm» integrates with the Armor and «Kropyva» combat control systems. This gives the operator access to a digital map and the ability to store up to 256 targets. The turret can be used both separately and installed on ground robotic complexes. Among the platforms with which it already works are TerMit, Gereon, TheMIS and ARDAL.

Units that have already used the system note a major advantage: fighters can remain in cover but still accurately target targets. According to the military, this reduces the risk to people without sacrificing effectiveness.

In fact, we are talking about a transition from classic firing points to remote solutions. Such systems allow you to fight without a direct presence near the weapon, which is critical in the context of drone warfare and the constant threat of positions being hit. That is why such modules are now rapidly being scaled up and integrated with robotic platforms.

Previously, dev.ua wrote about how Ukrainian companies Frontline Robotics and BUREVII integrated the Burya robotic turret with the ARDAL ground robotic complex, creating a single combat platform for fire, logistics, and evacuation tasks on the front line.
